Machinery breakdown / electronics

Machinery breakdown and electronics insurance covers internal mechanical or electrical failures of equipment, independently of any impact or external event.

It is distinct from classic « all-risks » policies, which usually cover external damage (impact, theft, fire) but exclude internal failures by default — an engine that fails, a faulty electronics board, a manufacturing defect that shows up in use. Many companies only discover that exclusion when they claim.

In construction, this cover applies to plant and surveying or measuring equipment. In transport, it covers sensitive onboard equipment — tracking systems, tail lifts, refrigeration kit for cold chain.
